January 2012
Dear Fellow Members,
Welcome to all of my fellow Tax Collectors & Treasurers of the Sussex & Warren Tax Collectors and Treasurers Association. It is my pleasure to serve as your association's president for 2012. I will be sending out updates to the website so keep checking back for new information.
The SWTCTA not only will be full with a wealth of knowledge from your fellow members but also constant communication with the TCTANJ. We will provide resources to all our members throughout the year. In addition to the meetings, we will offer ceu credits to renewal of your license. The NJTCTA will offer a Spring Conference held in May and the annual League of Municipality Conference held in November. The TCTANJ's website is www.tctanj.org Our association provides many options to give us all the edge we need to better serve in our communities as well as our local municipal governments.
We have had so many challenges in our day to day activities with the economic times. As tax collectors, treasurers and finance officers, it has never been more important to evaluate our role and focus; what we do and how we do it, as all of us continue to learn how to do more with less. If ever there was a time to learn from your association ways to stay informed and keep pace with changing requirements, this is the time. We have been asked by our state president, Mary Testori to give 110% of ourselves in this crucial time. I believe the SWTCTA members are up to that challenge.
I would personally like to welcome back our wonderful slate of officers for 2012 and introduce our new 2nd Vice President Danette Dyer of Hackettstown. In addition I would like to also welcome Joan Donet who has been serving as the regional rep for Morris, Sussex & Warren Counties over the years.
Some of the recent items that have been discussed at the State level is the S533 The "Common Sense Shared Services Act" This bill concerns shared service agreements and joint contracts for certain local personnel under "Uniform Shared Services and Consolidation Act." We suggest that you read this and follow this closely. Also discussed was PTR forms are due out sometime in March this year. They will not be mailed out in February. With recent changes to the date of school board elections it has been asked if your school board votes on switching their election to November that you should notify Pat Turin at DLGS. There is a lot of information that is passed down from our TCTANJ that is discussed at our SWTCTA meetings.
Please try to make every effort to attend our next meeting on February 24th. Details will be available soon on the website. We also currently have the 2012 membership application available as well. We look forward to all of you getting involved in the SWTCTA.
